The project aims to advance support for a low-carbon economy through the use of innovative technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Digital Twins. It exists to foster collaboration between the UKand Quetta, Pakistan, driving sustainable solutions that reduce carbon emissions and promote longterm environmental and economic resilience.The project plans to create a long-term research collaboration between the UK and Pakistan that ethically applies technologies to advance a fair and inclusive transition towards sustainable low-carbon futures. The project will establish best practices through a codesign approach and then produce specific policy recommendations for governments, institutions, and communities by using workshops, expert talks, and resources.The project will enhance research capacities in Pakistan through technology trainings and mentoring opportunities and resources dedicated to early-career scientists.

Tomato cultivation in Bostan-Pishin District, Balochistan, faces severe yield losses due to insect pests like lepidopteran larvae (e.g., Helicoverpa armigera) and aphids. In 2024, this project implemented biological control using Trichogramma minutum (parasitoid wasp) and ladybird beetles (Coccinella septempunctata) to reduce reliance on chemical pesticides.

The DEPWISEN project, awarded in 2021, aimed to address the critical issue of deforestation in Pakistan, with a specific focus on the Ziarat region of Balochistan. Home to the world’s second-largest juniper forest, Ziarat has faced severe deforestation due to illegal logging, climate change, and unsustainable land use practices. This project leveraged Internet of Things (IoT) and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) to monitor forest health in real-time and combat deforestation through data-driven interventions.

Balochistan, Pakistan's largest province, harbors unique biodiversity, including numerous rare and endemic insect species. However, habitat destruction and climate change threaten these populations. In 2016, I led a project to document and preserve Balochistan’s rare insects, focusing on taxonomic identification, ecological roles, and conservation strategies.

In 2015, I led a research project aimed at developing sustainable pest management strategies using biological control agents (BCAs) to combat agricultural insect pests near the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Quetta. The project focused on replacing chemical pesticides with eco-friendly alternatives to protect crops and local ecosystems.
