Natural product chemistry is a vital and dynamic field that bridges the natural world and human innovation. My focus is on the powerful small molecules that plants and microorganisms produce for survival. Through rigorous, bench-centered chemistry, we extract these natural products, determine their complex structures, and probe their potential as tomorrow's antibiotics, anti-cancer agents, or agrochemicals. I believe the most innovative solutions are often those that nature has already designed. My expertise spans natural product chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and synthetic organic chemistry, a foundation built through postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Malaya (Malaysia), the University of Bath (UK), and FJIRSM (China). This global training enables a unique research program that progresses seamlessly from isolating natural products to synthesizing optimized analogues for drug discovery.
