The Directorate of Student and Academic Affairs at BUITEMS, in collaboration with the Civil Services Academy (CSA), Government of Pakistan, hosted a significant and intellectually enriching session on Career Counseling for CSS Aspirants – National Outreach Programme on June 4, 2025. The event brought together key figures from academia and the civil services to engage students and faculty in meaningful discussions on nation-building and civil service careers.
The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Farhan Aziz Khawaja, Director General, Civil Services Academy, Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Vice Chancellor, BUITEMS, Prof. Abdul Wadood, Director, Student and Academic Affairs, Syed Dara Shikoh, Director Communication, Mr. Sameen Khan, Deputy Director and Dr. Syed Shabbir Akbar Zaidi, Director (CTP), Civil Service Academy, faculty members and students from various departments of BUITEMS.
This seminar was part of the CSA National Outreach Programme, an important initiative aimed at encouraging and preparing underrepresented candidates—including minorities, women, and students from Punjab (Minorities), Sindh, KPK, Balochistan, and Ex-FATA—for the CSS competitive examination. Key components of the initiative include:
• Awareness sessions to motivate aspirants toward civil service careers
• A one-month orientation course for provincially nominated candidates
• A four-month intensive crash course scheduled at CSA in mid-2026
Mr. Khawaja, a seasoned officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service with over three decades of service, delivered the opening keynote. His address covered the evolution of administrative leadership, governance challenges, and the pivotal role of civil servants in shaping Pakistan’s future. His thought-provoking insights were followed by a lively Q&A session, where students engaged with questions on public policy and career pathways.
Next, Dr. Zaidi spoke on modern governance frameworks and the urgent need for innovation and performance in public administration. His deep expertise in public policy and institutional reform added a strategic perspective to the dialogue.
The worthy Vice Chancellor, BUITEMS, Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez emphasized BUITEMS’ dedication to fostering academic excellence and public service values. He reaffirmed the university’s support for initiatives that bridge academic learning with real-world service and leadership.
