Quetta: The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) has achieved another significant milestone in strengthening its research and innovation ecosystem with the establishment of a High-Performance Supercomputing Laboratory in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, made possible through the generous support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).
The state-of-the-art laboratory was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor BUITEMS, Engr. Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Khan Tareen, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences, senior university officials, faculty members, students, and representatives of TİKA. The inauguration marks a major advancement in BUITEMS' efforts to enhance computational research, scientific innovation, and international academic collaboration.
The project was initiated and successfully secured by Dr. Syed Hasrat Hussain Shah, Chairperson, Department of Mathematical Sciences, who obtained international funding from TİKA for the establishment of this advanced research facility. The successful approval of the project reflects BUITEMS' growing international partnerships and its commitment to developing world-class research infrastructure.
The High-Performance Supercomputing Laboratory has been established to support teaching, research, and innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Data Science, High-Performance Computing (HPC), Mathematical Modelling, Computational Mathematics, Scientific Computing, and other computationally intensive disciplines. Equipped with modern computing systems, a high-performance server, and advanced networking infrastructure, the laboratory will enable students, researchers, and faculty members to perform complex simulations, advanced data analytics, and high-end scientific computations.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez expressed his appreciation to TİKA for its continued support in strengthening higher education and research capacity at BUITEMS. He also commended Dr. Syed Hasrat Hussain Shah for his dedication and outstanding efforts in securing this prestigious international project, describing the laboratory as a landmark achievement that will significantly enhance the University's research capabilities and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized that the establishment of the laboratory aligns with BUITEMS' vision of fostering cutting-edge research, technological innovation, and global partnerships while preparing students and researchers to address future scientific and technological challenges.
